Rusatom Service JSC has unique experience of implementing projects to extend the lifetime of NPP power units abroad.

Integrated and systematic approaches, as well as strict adherence to the fundamental principles of NPP safety are key aspects in the implementation of such projects for Rusatom Service JSC.

Rusatom Service JSC performs the following types of works within the framework of lifetime extension:

performing a set of works to assess the actual condition of the power unit and the economic feasibility of extending its service life

comprehensive inspection of the power unit

R&D complex: examination, calculations (thermal hydraulics, strength, etc.), metal studies, non-destructive testing of metal

assessment of the technical condition and justification for extending the service life of the power unit equipment

justification of the residual life of non-replaceable and non-recoverable elements of the power unit

in-depth safety assessment of the power unit

carrying out design and survey work and calculation justifications

execution of a complex of works on the preparation of the power unit for an additional period of operation

modernization of systems and equipment to improve safety

installation, commissioning, commissioning of safety systems

In addition, Rusatom Service JSC can engage the necessary specialized organizations that are part of Rosatom State Corporation enterprises to organize the works

Projects

The key lifetime extension project that was successfully implemented by Rusatom Service JSC is the project “The lifetime extension of Armenian NPP Power Unit No. 2 until 2026”.

The Armenian NPP is located in an earthquake-prone region (9 MSK-64) and has a worn-out transportation infrastructure. In this case, the work was performed at the operating power unit during planned preventive maintenance within a limited time.

Rusatom Service JSC performed the following within the project in 2015-2021:

people were seconded to the site for work at the power

tons of equipment are delivered to the Armenian NPP site

Main results of the project

According to the results of the activities implementation within LTE, the Customer AAEC CJSC noted Rusatom Service JSC with letters of appreciation (in the “Feedback” section).

At the moment, a framework contract is being concluded for a new scope of work for the re-extension of the operation lifetime of Armenian NPP Power Unit No. 2 until 2036.

Also, a set of works to rove the extension of the power unit operation lifetime up to 60 years was performed by Rusatom Service JSC for Kozloduy NPP in the Republic of Bulgaria.

The work to assess the technical condition and justify the remaining service life of the reactor plant, heat-exchange, pumping, transport-process and electrical equipment, pipelines and valves, as well as construction structures of buildings and facilities was performed at a high level in close cooperation with OKB Gidropress JSC, Kurchatov Institute NRC and Atomtekhenergo JSC.

The customer of Kozloduy NPP EAD also highly appreciated the Rusatom Service JSC team's expertise, which is noted in the letter of thanks (in the "Feedback" section).

Projects to extend NPP power units lifetime extension are technically complex, requiring an integrated approach and a high level of expertise. Localization of the work object abroad is an additional factor of project complexity for the contractor.

The references in realization of such projects is a unique competitive advantage for Rusatom Service JSC, which allows to confirm its competence for partners and potential customers.

In addition, the maximum flexible approach of Rusatom Service JSC to works allows to take into account all the customer's wishes, for example, development of technical documentation in multi-language format, conducting training for local subcontractors and maximum support to the customer at each stage of project implementation, as for local regulators and companies, as a rule, such experience is new.
