Rusatom Service JSC and NovaWind JSC will hold a round table on the transition to green energy in Sochi as part of ATOMEXPO-2022

16.11.2022

Rusatom Service JSC (part of Rosenergoatom Concern ownership, ROSATOM Electric Power Division) and NovaWind JSC will hold a round table on “Diversification of Green Energy Transition Solutions” on November 21, 2022 in Sochi as part of the XII International Forum “ATOMEXPO-2022”.

At the event, representatives of Rosatom State Corporation, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, the Renewable Energy Association of Kazakhstan, the Far East and Arctic Development Corporation, the electricity and heat main producer company of Kyrgyzstan will discuss the current and prospective role of renewable energy in ensuring the world energy balance, as well as answer the following questions:

- Are we really entering an era of green energy stagnation, and how long will it last?

- Is there any chance of avoiding the energy crisis, and is it possible in principle?

The round table on the diversification of green energy transition solutions is a unique opportunity to gather representatives of industry and power engineering, state bodies at one site and discuss the role of renewable energy in the energy balance of Russia and foreign countries, both now and in the future, share experience given the geographical and climatic characteristics of different countries, give forecasts to the development of green energy projects in the context of 10-15 years.

The rapid development of renewable energy and its increased share in the energy balance of countries in connection with the global priority of fighting against climate change requires integrated solutions from countries to ensure low-carbon generation simultaneously with the reliability and economic availability of electricity. The volatility of hydrocarbon prices and the instability of energy markets are additional factors that stimulate interest in renewable energy.

The global energy transition has not bypassed Russia, which, following the rest of the world, is heading for renewable energy and achieving climate neutrality. In this regard, such trends as an increase in the share of renewable energy sources: the construction of small HPPs, wind and solar power plants, as well as a decrease in the use of fossil energy resources and the construction of NPPs become especially relevant. What challenges do countries that develop renewable energy sources face? What are the prospects for green energy in the face of capacity shortages and the global energy crisis? Import substitution is a deterrent or growth point? Is it possible to provide stable power consumption from RES?

Participants in the “Diversification of Green Energy Transition Solutions” round table will be able to discuss these and other issues. (Sochi, “Sirius” Science and Arts Park, Hall 10, 09.00-10.45).

The discussion will be moderated by Irina Gayda, Expert of the Center for Energy Transition and ESG of the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology.
