Rosatom International Career Day for foreign graduates 2023

Rosatom International Career Day 2023 was held on March 6, 2023, for foreign students of Rosatom support universities studying nuclear and related professions in the Russian Federation. The online event was supported by Rosatom SC and National Research Tomsk Polytechnic University.

Rosatom International Career Day is aimed at development of research and academic cooperation in the nuclear science and technology between Russian universities and universities of partner countries, providing highly qualified personnel to Rosatom partner countries and facilitating employment of foreign graduates of supporting universities in their home countries.

The event was attended by over 100 participants: representatives of Tomsk Polytechnic University, Rosatom State Corporation, the Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt in the Russian Federation and partner countries of Rosatom State Corporation. The latter included representatives of 12 employers from partner countries:

National Research and Innovation Agency, Polytechnic Institute of Nuclear Technology and Nuclear Society (Indonesia), Ministry of Science and Technology, Vietnam Institute of Atomic Energy, NAK Kazatomprom JSC, Kazakhstan Nuclear Power Plants JSC, Atomic Energy Commission and Nuclear Regulatory Agency of Nigeria, Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Ghana, Petrojet and Hassan Allam Holding, Joint Institute for Nuclear Research of Egypt, heads of ministries and departments, Alumni and Foreign Students Associations of Tomsk Polytechnic Institute and other supporting universities of Rosatom from 8 countries (Vietnam, Ghana, Egypt, Zimbabwe, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Nigeria, Ethiopia).

The Ceremony was opened by the President of Tomsk Polytechnic University Dmitry Sednev, representative of Rosatom State Corporation Valery Karezin, Attaché for Culture, Director of the Cultural Bureau of the Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Russia Dr. Mohamed Elserganee as well as by the representatives of ministries and departments of Indonesia, Kazakhstan and Nigeria.

During the plenary session, the President of Tomsk Polytechnic University noted that the Rosatom Career Day is one of the largest career events aimed at promoting student employment and graduate employment. It is here that students and graduates have a unique opportunity to establish contact with a large number of employers from around the world in just a few hours and obtain information about jobs, internship programs, internships and training in organizations.

As part of the Career Day the students were told about the development of national nuclear projects, modern nuclear industry companies of Rosatom partner countries, nuclear infrastructure, and employment prospects for foreign graduates of Russian universities in Rosatom partner countries.

After the end official part, separate group discussions were organized. The representatives of Rosatom State Corporation spoke about the status of the nuclear power programs and the history of partnership between the Russian Federation and its partner countries while the employers from the partner countries described the job prospects for foreign specialists and answered the questions which were interesting for the students.

During the discussion on employment in the Arab Republic of Egypt Margarita Yuzbashyan, the Expert of the Nuclear Infrastructure Department of Rusatom Service JSC, presented the country profile with potential employment opportunities in Egyptian nuclear industry organizations. The speaker emphasized: “El-Dabaa NPP in Egypt is a project of state significance that involves a great number of organizations, ministries and departments of the nuclear industry of the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Russian Federation. In this regard, the key project stakeholders are particularly interested in involvement of young specialists trained in Russian nuclear and related professions for successful implementation of El-Dabaa NPP project in Egypt”.

The interactive interaction format and organized question-and-answer sessions allowed for an open dialogue between foreign students, potential candidates for employment, with representatives of the nuclear industry and potential employers of Rosatom SC partner countries.

The event demonstrated a wide range of opportunities for further employment of international students in the organizations of Rosatom SC partner countries, and all speakers unanimously emphasized the importance of active involvement of students and graduates themselves as future leaders of the international nuclear industry.
