Rosatom International Career Day for foreign graduates

On March 15, 2022 the Rosatom International Career Day for foreign graduates and students of the State Corporation partner universities studying nuclear and related specialties in Russia was held online on the platform of the Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU) with the support of the Rosatom State Corporation and Rusatom Service JSC. Over 160 participants and representatives of Rosatom partner countries attended the event, including 12 employers, from Egypt and Bolivia, in particular, as well as foreign students and graduates from 6 countries.

The plenary part of the event was opened by Dmitry Sednev, acting Rector of TPU, Vera Upirova, Rosatom State Corporation Representative, Mrs. Maria Luisa Ramos Ursagaste, Ambassador of Bolivia to Russia, Ronald Veizaga, Director for Atomic Energy of the Ministry of Hydrocarbons and Energy of Bolivia, Dr. Mohamed Elsergani, Cultural Attaché& Director of Egyptian Cultural Bureau in Moscow, Grigory Sosnin, Vice-President of ASE JSC, Director of the El-Dabaa NPP construction project, professor Egor Yazikov, President of the TPU Foreign Alumni Association.

During the plenary part, the Ambassador of Bolivia to Russia, Mrs. Maria Luisa Ramos Ursagaste, noted the "great opportunities and extensive experience of the Russian Federation in the nuclear field" and expressed great hopes for Russia's assistance in training specialists for the implementation of nuclear projects that would benefit the Bolivian population.

Grigory Sosnin, Vice-President of ASE JSC, Director of the El-Dabaa NPP construction project, noted that the NPP project is one of the largest in the global nuclear industry and demonstrates “Egypt’s view through the time” to the next century, since the life cycle of a nuclear power plant lasts about 100 years. He also noted the essential growth in staffing needs within the NPP site that shall reach 34 thousand people by 2025.

After the plenary part, the employment discussion moved to the working groups by countries. Representatives of the Rusatom Service JSC NI Division, which actively supports the employment of foreign graduates of Russian nuclear universities in the partner countries of Rosatom, presented to the Career day participants the profiles on employment in key nuclear organizations in Bolivia and Egypt.

In the course of the employment prospects discussion within the working group on Bolivia, Vera Tolcheeva, Head of the Expert Division of the Rusatom Service JSC, noted that the Company has experience in interacting with foreign employers in terms of collecting and submitting CVs in case of HR needs, thus providing support on employment both for Russian universities foreign graduates as well as foreign employers.

Ronald Veizaga, Director for Atomic Energy of the Ministry of Hydrocarbons and Energy of Bolivia, in his report noted that Bolivia stepped on the path of the nuclear energy development, where the qualified personnel development for the industry projects is very important. He also expressed hope for Russia's support in terms of training Bolivian specialists.

Employers from Egypt, represented by Petrojet, Hassan Allam Holding and the Egyptian Industrial Modernization Center, spoke about their current activities, mechanisms for employing candidates, and also answered questions from students regarding their expectations from potential employees and required skill levels.

During the presentation of the employment profile for Egypt, Anita Dhar, Manager of the Expert Division of the Rusatom Service JSC, presented the Company's programs in terms of developing the competencies of foreign students in the field of NI, including the internship program for the MEPhI University foreign students and the "NI Ambassadors" project within the framework of the large-scale project "Ambassadors of the Russian nuclear education” aimed at developing young leaders of the nuclear industry.

The Rosatom International Career Day ended with summing up of the results within the working groups, which showed the benefits of interaction between students and employers in terms of personnel development for the effective implementation of the nuclear energy program of the Rosatom State Corporation partner countries with the support of the Rusatom Service JSC.
