Official representatives from the Russian and Bangladesh sides officially announced the beginning of the Course «Technological aspects of NPP-2006 (VVER-1200)» for Bangladesh specialists

On November 8, 2021 a two-week online course «Technological aspects of NPP-2006 (VVER-1200)» was launched for representatives of universities, ministries, owner and operating organizations of new nuclear power plant project and responsible departments of Bangladesh. The course is to provide Bangladeshi specialists opportunity to develop their competencies in the field of Russian VVER technology, necessary for performing professional, scientific and educational activities.
The short-term course in the «Train-The-Trainers» format is conducted within the framework of the Rosatom State Corporation «International Cooperation in Nuclear Education» project to support the implementation of the Rooppur NPP construction project. The course was organized by the Rosatom Technical Academy with the support of the Rusatom Service JSC, ASE JSC as well as the Embassy of Bangladesh to Russia and the Ministry of Science and Technology of Bangladesh.
Pavel Zhuravlev, Vice-Rector - Director of the International Cooperation and International Business Development Department of the Rosatom Technical Academy, started the opening ceremony noting that the course may serve as a profitable option to help the faculty members of Bangladesh universities to develop and implement the appropriate nuclear training programmes based on VVER technology in order to prepare the best native specialist for the Rooppur NPP project.
During the opening ceremony Aleksey Deriy, Vice President - Director of the Rooppur NPP Construction Project of the ASE JSC mentioned in his speech: «Bangladesh's nuclear energy development strategy will make a significant contribution to the development of clean energy, the creation of new jobs and the development of nuclear education in the country». Yulia Chernyakhovskaya, Deputy Director General of the Rusatom Service JSC added: «Bangladesh students who study in Russia today are the employees of the nuclear industry in Bangladesh tomorrow. It is important to support young professionals in their careers».
Dr. Shawkat Akbar, Director of the Rooppur NPP Project highlighted: «our specialists are interested in learning the modern safety systems of the VVER III + generation design and its technological and economic advantages».
Mr. Kamrul Ahsan, H.E. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of Bangladesh to the Russian Federation, wished the participants good luck and emphasized the importance of the training of national nuclear personnel for the successful implementation of the first nuclear power plant construction project in Bangladesh.
Mr. Ziaul Hasan, Secretary, Ministry of Science and Technology of Bangladesh told the participants that «the national program for the development of nuclear energy in Bangladesh needs to develop the human resources of the country, and this course is an excellent opportunity for Bangladeshi participants to develop their knowledge and become mentors for young professionals in the future».
Official representatives expressed confidence that the course demonstrates a high level of mutually beneficial cooperation between Russia and Bangladesh in the field of nuclear energy.
