Green economy development discussed in Kaluga region
On March 10, 2023 in Obninsk the House of Scientists held a round table on "Implementation of the Green Economy project in the Kaluga Region", dedicated to the prospects and development areas of green economy in the region. The event was attended by the representatives of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Kaluga region, the State Duma of the Russian Federation, Agency of Innovative Development - Center of Cluster Development of Kaluga region JSC; project managers for the construction of biogas plants Georgy Apkaneev and Maria Yastrebova took part in the discussion from Rusatom Service JSC.
In his report Vladimir Zhipa, Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology, stressed the necessity to find a balance between the environmental legislation requirements and the industrial development.
Yuri Stankevich, the State Duma deputy and coordinator of the "Green Economy" federal project of United Russia commented:
"Despite the current difficult situation, there are no changes in the legislation regarding the impact on the environment. And since the Kaluga region has a large share of manufacturing enterprises, the opinion of our entrepreneurs on environmental issues is of great importance.
Currently Rusatom Service JSC considers green energy as a matter of priority. In the short term, the company plans to develop the areas of “Biogas Reactors” and “Landfill Gas”. In the future it is expected to implement investment projects related to high capacity bioreactors (from 1 MW) in COW format (construction, ownership, operation) . The contract for the first pilot project is planned to be signed in 2023.
"The Kaluga region is a rapidly developing industrial and agricultural region, so the environmental issue is highly acute here. Environmental protection is one of the main development goals of Rosatom. Due to biogas plant construction projects and landfill decontamination projects we can significantly improve the quality of life of local residents," said Maria Yastrebova, project manager of Rusatom Service JSC.
Participants of the round table exchanged positive experience in the field of ecology, noting that modern technologies and responsible attitude to the environment from the state officials, business officials and members of society open up wide horizons for the green economy.
