Justification of possibility to extend Kozloduy NPP Unit No. 6 lifetime up to 60 years
In order to justify lifetime extension of Kozloduy NPP Units No. 5 and 6, a team of specialists, including representatives of Rusatom Service JSC, OKB Gidropress JSC, Atomtekhenergo JSC, as well as other industry companies, have subsequently coped with the following tasks: developed programs for inspection, assessment of technical condition and residual lifetime of the equipment and systems; assessed technical condition, which included analysis of operation chronology (inspections, testing, examinations, metal condition monitoring, repairs), technical documentation analysis, operation modes analysis, failures and damages analysis; developed conclusions in equipment and systems technical condition and residual lifetime. Works on technical condition assessment and residual lifetime substantiation were performed following three main paths: reactor plant equipment, including vessel, with RV supporting structures, reactor internals, UU, 3d physical barrier equipment (SG, MCP, RCP, PRZ system equipment and ECCS) and RP pipelines, heat-exchanging, pumping, transportation and process and electrical equipment, pipelines and valves; civil structures of the Units buildings and structures.

Results of project
The completed works resulted in final report, prepared for each Unit, containing conclusions on assessment of technical condition and residual lifetime of Kozloduy NPP equipment and systems, as well as conclusions on possible lifetime extension of Power Units. On November 3, 2017 and on October 1, 2019 Mr. Latchesar Kostov, Chairman of the Bulgarian Nuclear Regulatory Agency (BNRA), officially presented the Kozloduy NPP executive director with license for Power Units No. 5 and 6 operation for another 10 years, which proves out again high professional skills and high responsibility level of Rosatom State Corporation specialists.
