ENVIRONMENTAL ASPECT
As part of the Quality, Environment, Health and Occupational Safety Policy of JSC Rusatom Service, the company pays much attention to the environmental pollution prevention, as well as ensures the operation, development and continuous improvement of the organization's management system according to ISO 14001 requirements (environmental management system), and regularly improves its performance.
Sustainable characteristics of Rusatom Service JSC products enabling to reduce environmental impact risks:
Robotic complexes reduce production waste, material consumption and scrap rates, and free humans from routine, heavy and injurious tasks, increasing safety at the workplace by reducing potential injuries. Rusatom Service JSC currently involves robotics integrator companies with their own technologies and production for further collaborative development of the direction.
Rusatom Service JSC has been an innovator in “Biogas Reactors” area since 2023 and is developing a new activity in Russia and abroad. Biogas energy could replace the main natural gas and central power supply. The biogas plant operation also makes a positive impact on the environmental situation: the share of low-carbon energy increases; the emission of carbon dioxide and methane into the atmosphere decreases; the share of plant and animal waste utilization increases; and the production of clean, efficient biofertilizer with high nutrient content and high value for use in agriculture increases.
The modernization and lifetime extension of NPP in partner countries ensures their further safe operation after the designated lifetime extension and enables the provision of low-carbon electricity to the population, thereby contributing to greenhouse gas savings. For example, NPP modernization in Armenia helped to extend its operation for up to 10 years. As a result of the lifetime extension, it was possible to save 40% electricity in the country's total electricity production, increase the unit energy capacity by 10-15%, provide the country's population with low-carbon electricity of about 2.8 billion kWh per year, and save 0.9 mln t of CO2 equivalent greenhouse gas emissions per year.
