Rusatom Service JSC holds webinar for Atom-CIS commission member-states on emergency preparedness and response

On June 17, 2022, Rusatom Service JSC (the organization responsible for the National Nuclear Infrastructure Development Program of the CIS Member States) held a webinar for the member-statesof the Atom-CIS Commission to present the English-language master's program “Emergency Preparedness and Response to Nuclear and Radiological Emergencies”. The program was developed by SPbPU with involvement of specialized subdivisions and organizations of Rosatom State Corporation (Rosatom ETC JSC, Rusatom Service JSC, Rosatom Technical Academy, etc.), as well as IAEA experts.

Training under the program is aimed at training employees of nuclear power plants and emergency departments who ensure preparedness and protection of population and personnel in case of emergency. The program includes not only classical lectures, but also practical training on the basis of the Rosatom Emergency Technical Center, research institutes of Rosatom, FMBA and others.

The purpose of the webinar is to inform the organizations of the CIS member states about educational opportunities aimed at development of human resources in the nuclear infrastructure and to invite their candidates for training.  

The webinar saw the participation of experts from specialized organizations of Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan.

In a welcoming speech, Yuliya Chernyakhovskaya, the Deputy Director General for Nuclear Infrastructure of Rusatom Service JSC, Ph.D., noted "Our master's program will train specialists in emergency preparedness and response in the nuclear industry, a key area in the post-Fukushima world. This is the first program of its kind in the CIS.

The master's program "Emergency Preparedness and Response to Nuclear and Radiological Emergencies" is the only one of a kind. It takes into account all current international requirements in emergency preparedness and response, as well as extensive Russian expertise.
