On February 5, 2021, a kick-off meeting was held with international students who study in nuclear specialties in the National Research Nuclear University “MEPhI” and are also engaged in Rusatom Service JSC programme for the issuance of targeted educational scholarships.

The meeting was opened by Yuliya Chernyakhovskaya, programme coordinator from Rusatom Service JSC side, Deputy Director General for Nuclear Infrastructure, Associate Professor of Economics and Management in Industry of the NRNU MEPhI, Ph.D. in Economics:

“The programme of cooperation with MEPhI students started in 2018 and was designed to stimulate educational, research activities, expand communication channels in partner countries of Rosatom State Corporation, develop cooperation and assistance to partner countries in the field of personnel training for nuclear industry.”

As a nuclear infrastructure development services integrator, Rusatom Service JSC offers students a wide range of opportunities to engage in industry activities, familiarize themselves with the best practices of the industry and the specifics of activities on nuclear infrastructure. According to students, the acquired knowledge and competencies will help them to find a job in industry organizations in their native country. Students try themselves as ambassadors of nuclear infrastructure, conduct analytical research, participate in international projects on nuclear infrastructure. Following the words of A.E. Likhachev, we create all the conditions for the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 18 named “Human” by providing opportunities in our activities to unleash human potential and form a human-centered, talent-centered system for personnel training.

The involvement of international students will also solve other, equally important tasks - the promotion of Russian nuclear education among future specialists, raising awareness of the specifics of nuclear infrastructure and importance of its development in achieving sustainable development goals, the development of personnel for the nuclear industry of partner countries.

The programme has already managed to declare itself as a successful project for integrating students into the industry. 22 international students from Bolivia, Bangladesh, Egypt, Turkey and Uzbekistan participated in it over 3 years of implementation. More than half of them are engaged in it to this day.

Rusatom Service JSC team hopes that the number of ambitious and promising young people ready to make their significant contribution to the development of the nuclear infrastructure area will only grow!
