Session of CIS member states Commission on Peaceful Use of Atomic Energy was held in Bishkek

In the period from November 8 to 9, 2022, the 23rd meeting of CIS member states Commission on Peaceful Use of Atomic Energy was held in Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic, on the sidelines of which the 2nd meeting of the Council of Representatives of the governing level of safety regulatory bodies for the use of atomic energy of the CIS member states was held.

Yulia Chernyakhovskaya, Deputy Director General for Nuclear Infrastructure of Rusatom Service JSC as Rosatom State Corporation integrator for nuclear infrastructure presented at the meeting of the Commission the draft Program and Action Plan for the Development of National Nuclear Infrastructure in the CIS member states in order to safely implement programs for the peaceful use of nuclear technologies, planned for approval by the CIS Economic Council in December 2022. The activities presented in the documents are aimed at creating conditions for the safe and effective use of nuclear energy, both in the field of electricity generation and in the field of non-energy nuclear technologies, and cover the exchange of experience and joint research given safety standards and with the involvement of IAEA experts.

“Significant experience in the development of nuclear infrastructure has been accumulated in the CIS countries, we propose to establish an exchange of our knowledge,” - Yulia Chernyakhovskaya noted. “This year, we invite you to take part in the IAEA INPRO webinar on tools for assessing nuclear energy development strategies and improving the stability of nuclear energy systems. With regard to safety culture, I propose to hold our session in June 2023 in St. Petersburg, as part of the 2nd International Inter-Industry Forum on Safety Culture.”

At the end of the meetings, the participants noted the importance of nuclear infrastructure development activities at the national level of the CIS member states.
