Since the end of 2022 Rusatom Service JSC has been actively developing “Biogas Reactors”, a new line of business in Russia and abroad.
Rusatom Service JSC is ready to invest in the construction of biogas plants.
Biogas energy can replace mainline natural gas and centralized energy supply as it is reliable and profitable.
The operation principle of biogas plants is simple: animal waste, food production, biological waste from landfills and water treatment plants are used as fuel. If to recycle all wastes in the country into electric energy, the output will be comparable with the current capacity of the energy systems of large Russian regions.
Biogas plant operation also positively affects the environmental situation: the share of global low-carbon energy increases to decrease the cost of energy resources for the consumer; carbon dioxide and methane emissions reduce; the share of plant and animal waste recycling increases; the production of clean effective biofertilizer rich in nutrients and highly valuable for agriculture increases.

Process description
Organic waste is loaded into the anaerobic mesophilic reactor of the biogas plant, where under the impact of different groups of bacteria it is converted into biogas with the resulting effluent which can be later processed into organic fertilizer.
Anaerobic processing is carried out in a fermenter for 30-60 days at a temperature of 38 - 41 °C. If necessary, the fermented mass is additionally pasteurized at 70 °C to kill pathogenic microflora.
After removing hydrogen sulfide, the produced biogas is converted into electric and thermal energy in a cogeneration unit.
